
Cathy AdolphDieticianOutgoing and enthusiastic, Cathy is Well Fit’s registered dietitian as well as
an ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) certified Health and Fitness
Instructor. She is a life-long athlete, a competitive triathlete, marathon
runner and former gymnast. Cathy earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from
Indiana University and went on to complete her nutrition education at Marian
College in Indianapolis. Cathy gained research experience at the Indiana
University Hospital and counseling experience at the Indiana State Department of
Health’s Osteoporosis Initiative. She also owned her own personal chef company
while working as a gymnastics coach. She created a Lunch & Learn nutrition
program while working as a dietitian and personal trainer in an Atlanta health
club. Cathy currently works at one of Chicago’s exclusive health clubs
counseling clients through weight loss and emotional eating, athletes,
vegetarians, teens and clients with osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, cancer and eating disorders. Cathy leads nutrition seminars and
counsels clients through many local athletic organizations.
Cathy’s
approach to fitness, nutrition and wellness is integrative in nature. She takes
into consideration the client’s total lifestyle including stress, sleep habits
and food preferences, just to name a few, while utilizing methods to meet her
client’s goals that are proven and easy to follow. She is very mind-body
oriented and knows from experience that we are at our best physically when we
are also at our best mentally and emotionally. Cathy recommends supplements and
integrative therapies like acupuncture, visualization and meditation to athletes
needing more than dietary advice.
Cathy has competed and placed in
numerous triathlon and road races from 5k to marathon and from sprint triathlon
to half Ironman. She is currently training for her first Ironman triathlon –
Ironman Arizona, April 2007.
