Spirit of Racine Bike Training Ride
We are heading up to Racine, Wisconsin on May 25 and June 29 to ride the Spirit of Racine bike course.
Know every turn and bump in the ride; the more comfortable you are with the course the smoother and faster the bike leg of your race will be. We will start with a course overview and then split in to two speed groups. Group one will ride at 15 to 17mph and group two will ride at 17 to 20 mph. Two aid stations will support the ride serving water, sports drink and some energy food. However, each athlete should be prepared to be self sufficient.

Location – North Beach Park, Racine, Wisconsin at the beach parking lot at the end of Kewaunee St.
Distance – approximately 56 miles
The Programs
16 week program, April 2 to July 22– A complete
endurance training program that begins four months before race day, those seeking endurance before focusing on race specific training will benefit most from this program. Per week training ranges between nine to sixteen hours, but the program can be easily pared down to accommodate busy schedules, or exhaustion. If you do abbreviate the training, be sure to concentrate on the bold face sessions, they are critical.
10 week program, May 12th to July 20th - A program for athletes who seek race specific, “final approach” training.Nine to sixteen hours per week. Per week training is and by all means customize, but don’t miss the workouts marked in bold type.
8 week Beginner sprint program, May 26th to July 19th - The focus of this program is developing the aerobic endurance you need for the distance, with some speed and power workouts. We assume you just want to see if you like triathlon racing, it is your first race and you have not been training consistently up to now.
8 week Advanced sprint program, May 26th to July 19th - The focus of this program is to develop your speed, power and anaerobic endurance, as well as maintain your aerobic endurance. We assume you have trained consistently up to now and have developed an adequate aerobic base. You have one or more years in the sport and have some experience in training and racing. The advanced program will peak your ability on race day.
