Will began training with Well-Fit in the Ironman Wisconsin 70.3 group earlier this year after a 7 year hiatus from the sport. After a 6:13 finish time in Madison, he set his eyes on the Kaiserwink-Walchsee 70.3 race in Austria in August, looking to improve upon that time.
Will started with our 5 week altitude booster program in the 6 weeks leading up to his race. His goal was to drop 29 minutes off his 70.3 time from June and finish in 5:44. He said at first the altitude booster workouts felt difficult, almost like starting training all over again. However, as the program progressed, he could feel his body getting stronger and his fitness improving. He said he enjoyed changing up his training and adding another element to it.
Coach Ted’s training plan combined with the Altitude Booster program proved successful for Will’s results as he completely shocked himself when he finished with a time of 5:27 in Austria which was a PR by 46 minutes! He looks forward to continuing altitude training as he works toward his next goal, his first full Ironman in New Zealand- March 2019!
