Swim Technique III

You’ve mastered the form of the freestyle stroke. You feel significantly more confident in the water than you ever have before. Now, you are ready to take swimming to the next level skill and conditioning. Swim Tech III is Well-Fit’s 5-week program that teaches the structural foundation of breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly, technical form analysis, and dry land strength training which will give you the skill set to swim faster, stronger, and with any Masters swim team in the country – and keep up.

And how will this transfer to triathlon?

Every workout will activate your core swimming muscles, increase your feel for the water, and make your freestyle faster and more efficient. Through stroke work and technique, you will work underutilized muscle groups that will more efficiently allow your body to transfer power on the bike and the run. Working starts and turns will translate directly to your prowess in open water. Working your breaststroke is arguably the best low impact workout to improve your run speed. Working breaststroke and butterfly will improve your body’s ability to transfer power to your crank. Working your backstroke will balance the torso muscle development and will give you a new perspective of form weakness in your freestyle.

By the end of the five-week course, participants will be able to:

  • Flip turn
  • Block start
  • Open turns
  • Breaststroke
  • Backstroke
  • Butterfly

By class #4, each participants will be able to successfully and legally swim a 100 IM, showing that they’re able to effectively start, perform each stroke, and each turn off the wall.

  • Class 1: Wall starts, Flip turns
  • Class 2: Breast Stroke, Block starts, Open turns
  • Class 3: Butterfly
  • Class 4: Backstroke, Freestyle analysis, Putting it all together
  • Class 5 (Well-Fit endless pool): All four strokes, Form analysis video
